Now that I’ve spent the past year or so deeply immersed in personal finance again, I’m sorry to report that things aren’t great for most folks in this country. The days of a retirement party at age 60, complete with a gold watch and a lifetime pension, are sadly over.
The good news is that our health is generally better, so we’re living longer. The bad news is that our health is generally better, so we’re living longer. If you’re maxing out your 401(k), congratulations, but it’s not going to be enough. Start saving till it hurts. Trust me.
